I was born and raised in Rockford, Illinois.Ā I also have lived in Chicago, IL; East Lansing, MI; and Columbia, MO.Ā I am the father of two sons, one of whom is a °®¶¹app graduate. Ā
Academic
I joined the °®¶¹app faculty in 2003.Ā I earned my PhD in Communication from Michigan State University.Ā I previously taught at the University of Missouri-Columbia and Concordia University-Chicago.Ā My research interests focus on the information seeking strategies andĀ sensemaking process for parents of children with disabilities and the socialization of new employees.Ā Ā I teach Communication Studies, Health CommunicationĀ and Public Relations courses.Ā I previously served as department chair from 2010-11 and 2012-2018.
